01/05/09 - UFC owner Fertitta: "The public dont know or care about Fedor"
UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta does not believe that Fedor Emelianenko would bring great benefits to the organisation in financial terms.
In issue 3 of Fighters Only Canada, Fertitta says that “the general public has no idea who Fedor is, nor do they care. He would not make an impact from a business standpoint, in my opinion, with the UFC.”
However, that does not mean that the Italian-American billionaire is opposed to seeing Fedor join the UFC heavyweight ranks.
“Would I like to see him in the UFC? Absolutely!" he says without hesitation. "I would say I’m more puzzled as far as why his management team opted not to go the route of doing business with the UFC. What they’re missing is we could turn him into a household name overnight”.
